It’s hard to succinctly capture the important role that Kate played in building a sustainable development infrastructure for my college. Kate’s consultancy helped me get a handle on the fundraising priorities for my diverse faculty and significantly moved the needle on establishing a new culture of development in my college. It was well worth the investment.
Kate Troelstra organized two full days of meetings with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders from my college. The end result was a comprehensive, wonderfully-detailed, and strategic analysis of my college’s development priorities and opportunities. Kate’s work perfectly captured the diverse array of activities in my college, and I couldn’t have done this without her efforts.
Coming into a public university system environment with steadily declining levels of state support, I knew building an infrastructure that appealed to external support was critical. Working with Kate gave me the tools I needed to hit the ground running and reimagine my college’s advancement operations. We now have a positive new energy around development in our college, and have already raised 300% of annual development goal for the current fiscal year.

As a faculty member at Clayton State University, I’ve had the pleasure of working with Kate Troelstra on a number of development projects. Kate leverages her depth of knowledge and experience in fund-raising with great organizational skills and a strong work ethic. I particularly like her ability to think critically and ask insightful questions from a whole-systems view. Best of all, she has a high level of “social intelligence” – the ability to work well with diverse audiences and communicate effectively in a variety of situations. From my experience of 32 years in the corporate world as a senior executive and 16 years in academia, I would rate Kate as one of the most talented individuals I’ve ever known.
